MEET THE TEAM: MIRANDA FAULKNER
Miranda Faulkner is the Public Relations Specialist of TREAD Agency.
Q: YOU HAVE A PASSION FOR THE OUTDOORS. WHERE DID THAT START?
A: As a kid growing up in the Pacific Northwest, my parents didn’t take us to amusement parks or to stay in glitzy hotels. Instead, we spent our vacations in national parks, fishing, camping and out in the backcountry. I’ve loved being outside, unplugged and in nature for as far back as I can remember. But I didn’t explore beyond the foliage and mountains until I became an adult.
When I moved to Arizona for college, I had the opportunity of experiencing a completely different type of ecosystem. It was wild to think that Mt. Rainier was in my backyard as I grew up, and then as an adult, I had the privilege of taking a day trip to witness the incredible red rocks in Sedona and camping on the rim of the Grand Canyon. It quickly made me realize that I had so much more to see – and I did just that. During my junior year of college, I moved into a small bungalow on Koh Phangan Beach in Thailand and spent the whole summer exploring the land. Heading into my senior year, I packed as much as I could into my Mazda 3 and spent three months on the road, hitting every national park in the Southwest and Western regions and driving up and down the Pacific Coast Highway.
Nowadays, I spend just about all my free time outside. You can find me exploring a state or national park, snowboarding, wake surfing, camping, climbing, hiking, overlanding or simply taking my dog on a nature walk.
Q: HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN THE OUTDOOR INDUSTRY? HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED WITH TREAD?
A: After spending my college years investing my free time exploring, I moved to Washington, D.C. I utilized my journalism and political science degrees to cover environmental issues, government affairs and tribal lands for Arizona PBS.
After reporting, I took the leap into public relations and diversified myself in different industries. In 2022, I started with Kahn Media as a senior account executive and was quickly given the incredible opportunity of stepping into the first public relations role when TREAD was launched. I am thrilled to reconnect my passion for storytelling with my love for the outdoors.
